I activated Alum Creek State Park (US-1933
) via “Parks on the Air” (aka: POTA), on Saturday, March 8th, 2025 for International Women’s Day and the “YL POTA Party” advertised by the Young Ladies Radio League (aka: YLRL).
I recently signed up for Bluesky, with the username @k8vsy.radio. As it seems like the “new thing” to do, so to speak.
On Saturday, April 13, 2024 the amateur radio clubs from The Ohio State University (W8LT) and The University of Cincinnati (W8YX) held a joint Parks on the Air (POTA) activation at Cowan Lake State Park in Ohio.
I recently bought a new Raspberry Pi 5 (RPi5) and I’ve been looking for something to do with my Raspberry Pi v3.
For various reasons, sometimes I like to do remote operation (FT8) of my base station that I have set up at home.

Two years ago I bought a cheap DMR hotspot on Amazon for about $100. I went to use it for the first time in a while but I discovered it was broken.
Occasionally I’ve been on Telegram in a few ham radio chats and wanted to lookup a call sign via QRZ.com. Not seeing any options, I decided to write my own.
One of the things I’ve been craving for my ham radio station/toolkit is the ability to operate portably on HF. Whether that is for emergency purposes or for POTA (Parks on the Air), I’ve been wanting to do this for a while now.
